Associate Professor Veronica Preda enjoys managing all aspects of endocrinology including: Type I and II diabetes (including pumps); thyroid disease; endocrine disorders during pregnancy; PCOS; osteoporosis and bone health; pituitary and adrenal disease; neuroendocrine tumours and cancer genetic syndromes related to endocrinology.

She is experienced in endocrinology having completed a Fellowship at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Metabolism and Endocrinology in the UK as well as a PhD on tumorigenesis pathways in sella masses. She undertook advanced endocrinology training at Royal North Shore Hospital after completing her core physician’s training there. She also has a background in General and Emergency Medicine & Intensive Care, having worked at a number of hospitals in the NSW Health network.

Dr Preda completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine through the University of Sydney with research grounded in Oxford on tumour pathways. Masters of Public Health and graduated with Honours in Medicine from the University of New South Wales. Dr. Preda is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney Medical School teaching medical students as well as post graduate Masters of Internal Medicine students. She is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Medicine at Macquarie University. Dr Preda has more than 35 peer-reviewed publications in internationally respected medical journals and specialist textbooks.

Dr Preda continued her collaborative research with Oxford and Sydney Universities, writing her PhD on tumorigenesis pathways in sella masses including pituitary and endocrine cancers. Her research has been presented at several international meetings and in international journals. She is the clinical lead of the Macquarie MD Research Program and Head of Department at Macquarie University.

Dr Preda consults and teaches at Macquarie University. She leads the Type I Medical Device clinic, Health Weight Metabolic service, and Pituitary Neuroendocrine service. She also consults inpatients and has admitting rights at North Shore Private Hospital.

Dr Tamara Preda

BREAST CANCER AND ENDOCRINE SURGEON

Dr Tamara Preda is a Sydney based specialist in breast cancer and endocrine surgery with a background in general surgery. She has extensive knowledge and experience in the management of benign and malignant conditions of the breast, as well as thyroid and parathyroid disease, and is a Lecturer in Surgery for the University of Notre Dame.

Since graduating from Medicine at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Dr Tamara Preda has gained a wealth of training and experience across some of Australia’s most well established and busiest breast cancer and general surgery units. In turn, she has become a highly capable specialist in breast and endocrine surgery.

Upon completion of her medical degrees in 2004, Tamara began her surgical traineeship across multiple Sydney hospital networks, including Sydney South West, Northern Sydney- Central Coast and South Eastern Sydney, earning a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. She undertook and two further additional dedicated Breast Endocrine Fellowships at the prestigious Royal Adelaide Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. She has extensive experience with surgical teaching, with an ongoing active academic role at the University of Notre Dame’s surgical program. She continues to publish and contribute to the field of breast-endocrine surgery.

Dr Preda worked for 3 years as a VMO surgeon at Liverpool Hospital and continues to work as a VMO surgeon at Breastscreen Northern Sydney/Central Coast. She has admitting rights at St Vincent’s Private Hospital.
